TalkShoes PSA: Your UGGs needn’t be ugly

Those of us here at TalkShoes know just how hard it can be to resist a pair of UGG Classic Shorts on a cold, dreary winter day when you don’t even really want to get dressed. We rarely manage to resist them ourselves, despite the fact that we spend our days writing about stylish shoes and bags. If you’ve ever found yourself in a similar conundrum, take heart – all is not lost.

Unbeknownst to many who avoid the brand because of its association with furry footwear, UGG actually makes a full line of casual leather boots (with cozy shearling footbeds, of course) that aren’t at all like the UGGs everyone knows and loves (or hates). We’ve found four options that might suit your everyday winter wardrobe with all the comfort of an UGG but none of the telltale exterior signs. These designs might not be lighting the fashion world on fire, but they’re all attractive, functional and under $300.

    This article is so funny because I just left the mall and actually saw a pair of Uggs that I liked. I couldn’t believe it. But I don’t see it pictured here. Unfortunately, the car broke down a few days ago so I couldn’t buy them.

    For some reason, when I try to picture myself wearing any of the boots pictured above, I just can’t do it! I can’t get over the fact that they are UGGs. I can proudly say that I have never owned a pair, and I don’t plan to!

    I went on a long search last winter for non-ugg winter boots…and I ended up with non-uggish uggs! LOL. I love them though. They’re not the cutest boots, but they’re waterproof and warm and that’s really all that matters when there’s snow on the ground. Plus, they don’t look like giant clunky slippers. much sleeker.
