Contemporary shoe designer Sam Edelman has made quite a name for himself in the world of footwear. His eponymous line features everything from comfortable sandals to ankle boots, including one of my personal favorites, the Becker leopard slip-on sneaker. Now, Edelman is pushing his brand even further into the fashion spectrum, this time with apparel. Tuesday, the TalkShoes team was invited to a preview of the apparel collection, as well as to see what was up Edelman’s sleeve in the world of shoes. I’m happy to report that both the footwear and the apparel collections are going to be on my radar in the upcoming months, and they should be on yours as well!
The color palette for the fall apparel collection goes beyond your typical autumnal hues and incorporates various textures like mohair and sequins, plus patterns like plaid, camouflage and animal print, and the collection is all about menswear inspired styling clashed with feminine detailing. Think of it as the ultimate boy-meets-girl mash-up; moto jackets paired with printed dresses and slip on sneakers, or camouflage skirts paired with a mohair cropped sweater.
When I walked into the showroom and saw chunky knits with slim fitting trousers and sequin shorts with tees, I had some instant favorites. The collection is set at a contemporary price point, ranging from $50 to $300 for both the apparel and footwear. Shop the entire fall collection starting August 1st at samedelman.com, or shop Sam Edelman’s summer collection through Bloomingdale’s right now.
