I can’t remember the last time I saw a Miu Miu shoe that I didn’t like, but there were definitely a few in the Miu Miu Spring 2011 runway show. Don’t worry, though – the good outweighed the bad by far, as it usually does with anything to which Miuccia Prada gives her stamp of approval.
I would love to have every single pair of the multicolored, non-intuitive, spectator-aping Mary Janes from this collection in my closet right now. They’d jazz up a bland outfit in an instant, and they all looked incredibly wearable. Unfortunately, the collection lost me when the shoes got a tad taller – tacking on a lace-up ankle sock to a shoe that is rightfully a regular pump does not an interesting piece of footwear make. In fact, at those heights, the materials tended to look a bit cheap, which no one should ever say about shoes this expensive. Still, the half of the collection that I loved makes me forgive the other half.
