Fashion Week Shoes: Valentino Spring 2011

by

Valentino 2 178x200 Fashion Week Shoes: Valentino Spring 2011For some reason, the backs of my ankles are very sensitive. I’m usually pretty thick-skinned and pain-resilient, but the minute a shoe starts rubbing on my heel, all bets are off. That weakness virtually eliminates me as a customer for the shoes from Valentino Spring 2011, but forgive me if I don’t shed any tears over it.

I’m not sure who decided that tiny, thin, sharp-looking chain straps should hold on something like a shoe, whose fit and structural integrity are vitally important, but I assure you that it’s a bad idea. One model already looks like she has an open wound in the strap area, and surely a day spent with tiny chains digging into your ankles would wear down even the toughest shoe lover. The idea of jewelry-like straps sounds delicate and ladylike, sure, but just wait and see how feminine you feel when you’re bleeding all over your new kicks.

The chains are so pretty! But I’m really allergic to metal, so I’m sure that would trigger a reaction on my ankle.

My ankles/heels are the same way, but Foot Petals makes these amazing things that you stick in the backs of your shoes called Heavenly Heels, they prevent the shoe from rubbing against your heels!!

As much as they look like they hurt, the thin chains are very nice! However, I’m not crazy about this collection of shoes, and they cannot compare to last season’s studded beauties.

I loved these when I first saw them, but looking closer at the pictures after the jump, I see that the models’ ankles are irritated and rubbed from the chains
    :(

Maybe someone else can put a spin on this and correct the design flaw…
