Gianvito Rossi Plexy Combo Pump.jpg

It’s hard to find a mostly-PVC shoe that’s chic and not cheap, but these Gianvito Rossi PVC Pumps have done it. In fact, they are opposite; so elegant and beautifully crafted that I am putting my disdain of PVC aside, because how can you not admire a pump like this?

Rossi has a fair amount of PVC in his collection and it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. For Spring 2014, we will see more PVC pumps from Rossi, but his approach in using PVC will be different, focusing more on ankle and toe straps. One of the things that we should appreciate about Rossi, which is clearly evident with this selection of pumps, is his speciality for clashing classic silhouettes with modern patterns. It doesn’t hurt that his footwear designer father, Sergio Rossi, was his mentor.

While this may not be everyone’s choice of a go-to shoe, I think it is a great transitional pump that can take us from fall to winter and winter to spring rather easily. Your foot is still nominally covered from the frigid cold, but the sexy curve of the foot isn’t lost. The leopard PVC pump in particular is on trend in so many ways that if you’re in the mood to splurge, it would definitely be one of my suggestions. They’re all great, though – take a look through all of the Gianvito Rossi PVC pumps below!
