For Fall 2013, designers from Michael Kors to Tabitha Simmons incorporated camouflage into their ready-to-wear and accessories collections. While I’ve never been a camouflage fan, I couldn’t help but have a change of heart when I saw the Manolo Blahnik BB Camo-Print Pumps. With a streamlined use of camo like we see here, it’s clear the print can go beyond just casual wear. We all have different associations when it comes to camouflage, but one of the reasons why this pump is different from many others this season is the way the brand redefines a very tough and edgy print and transforms it into a very ladylike and respectable pump.
With this camo revival, I thought about all the different ways I could style this pump. When styling this satin BB pump, I thought color would heighten the pattern of this pump, which is why I chose the Thakoon jumpsuit. To complete the look, I chose this Alexander Wang Patchwork jacket with a Barneys New York leopard scarf. I decided to be daring and do some pattern clashing with the leopard scarf and the camo pumps. This mixology of patterns is still workable because of the distance from the scarf to your shoes, but also because it follows the same color scheme. I never thought I would be smitten over a camo pump, but as Justin Bieber says, “Never Say Never.”
