I don’t have a romantic bone in my body. Candle light dinners make me feel awkward, rose petals strewn about my bedroom seem totally cheesy, and I’ve never been as good at remembering special occasions or anniversaries as any boyfriend I’ve ever had. I don’t even like romantic comedies – give me a Quinten Tarantino movie any day.

Every now and then, though, something like the Poetic Licence Encoure Bootie catches my eye and makes me want to run through a field of wheat in a flowing dress, or whatever it is that happens in that cliché. I’m not sure, but it seems like the colors and details of this bootie are spot-on to inspire that sort of insipid foolishness, even in the romantically challenged like myself.

Something about the muted khaki tones and the plush bow make this shoe extremely feminine without being too obviously “girly,” and the difference in texture and color between the body of the boot and the snake details really work for me. I don’t normally wear this color palette at all, and in fact I probably wouldn’t have anything in my closet with which to pair these shoes, but I could see them look working well on someone with a different personal style.
