Black goat hair – it’s a Thing (yes, capital T) for fall! As more cold-weather shoes make their way to retail for the impending winter months, we’re seeing more and more hairy shoes from a variety of designers. Leopard print is partially driving this trend, but there’s also a good bit of black to be found on hairy shoes.
The Givenchy Calf Hair Ankle Boots may not feature goat hair, but they’re clearly hirsute enough to fit in with the trend’s aesthetic. Compared to the Alexander Wang goat hair boots, this pair has a bit of a crew cut and I think I like it.
I’m always open to any fabric option that gives a design more texture, and calf hair (or hair of any kind) does exactly that. Like most people, though, I prefer it in short, neat form rather than hair that looks like it’s hanging off a head. Givenchy gives us just that in this pair of booties, which is why I feel very comfortable calling them my favorite hairy shoes of the season so far. Not only is the use of hair well-executed, but the shape of the shoe itself can only be described as fierce. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1190.
